THEY HAD A SON REGINALD (1914-1882). RECORDED ON HULL'S MERCHANT NAVY ROH. PRESUMED DROWNED ON 1/08/1916, AGED 29. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, WITH HIS PHOTO ON 13TH SEPTEMBER 1916.*
The British cargo/passenger vessel S/S Aaro was sunk on 1st August 1916, by the German submarine U-20 (Walther Schwieger), 25 miles SW of Stavanger. Aaro was on her way from Hull to Christiania. There were 3 casualties.
