Brandesburton WW1 Memorial Cross

Born Brandesburton, Hull, 1898. Son of John Beswick (1865-1939) and Mary Elizabeth Sutcliffe (1872-1927). Son of a farmer. Also lived Garfield, Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. He had one brother and three sisters. He left for Melbourne, Australia, in 1912, on the Aberdeen Line. His family grave at St Mary’s Church, Brandesburton, says that he fell in action on 9th-16th October 1917, aged 19. He is buried in Belgium. His grave inscription reads, “PEACE PERFECT PEACE WITH LOVED ONES FAR AWAY”
